Bailey and McKinney leading a young Pikeview squad

Gardner, WV

The Pikeview girls have gotten off to a rough start in 2018.  Something that hasn't sat well with sophomore stars Shiloh Bailey and Laken Mckinney. "I really expected a lot more out of us.  We're still young and still learning to play with each other and together as a team and everyone showing up ready to play.  I just think that we have a lot more potential than we are showing this season" said Bailey.

The sophomore pair are leading the panthers in scoring, rebounds, and blocks.  A big step from year one, to year two. "We have more experience going into this season than last year.  That was definitely a big difference because of the pace of the game.  We know the pace of the game is going to be a lot faster" said Mckinney.

The young duo were thrown into the fire right from the beginning, something that has been a huge benefit for them. "This year we have come a long way because we know what to expect.  But, its definitely crazy to think about that we are just sophomores.  Just because we have two years of varsity under out belts" said Bailey.

The Panthers have some of the best teams in the state in their section and region.  A tough test for them night in and night out. "We our section and region being that tough, it helps us prepare for sectionals and regionals.  Knowing that we have those tough teams, we just have to work to get better than them" said Mckinney.

Bailey and Mckinney are a part of a group with no seniors or juniors.  The sky could be the limit for this team, but that's not going to come easy. "All of us are thriving for that state championship.  We want a ring and we know its definitely possible but we know we have to work for it" said Bailey.
