Traffic stop turns to drug bust in Raleigh County

BECKLEY, W.Va. (WVVA) An ordinary traffic stop turned into a drug bust on Thursday after a Beckley Police officer discovers $3,400 in drugs. 

According to court documents, it happened early Thursday around 12:30 a.m. on Harper Road in Beckley. That is where court documents say Cpl. Timothy Capehart stopped Eric Smith for a revoked driver's license.

Cpl Capehart was then alerted by his K-9 to possible in the car, where the officer found 15 grams of Cocaine, 10 grams of Methamphetamine, four grams of Heroin, and two digital scales. 

Smith was arrested and charged with possession with the intent to deliver and driving while on a revoked license.

The suspect is currently being held in Southern Regional Jail (SRJ) on a $100,000 bond.
