Once long time district rivals the Bland County Bears and Narrows Green Wave renew their rivalry this week in the War on Wolf Creek. "You know we're right here close and the War on Wolf Creek and everything, but yea it's important to us" said Narrows senior Jake Martin. "They've beat us for like the years and so we're just trying to go down there and beat them" said Bland Co junior Nathan Saunders.

The Green Wave have taken the last two in the series including last year's 47-20 victory, but say any edge they may have is minimal.  "We know we're going to get their best and they're going get to get our best and you know it's great for both communities because both communities love their school" said Narrows head coach Kelly Lowe.

The Bears took home the plaque back in 2014 and feel their on the verge of bringing it back home. "It's a new year. new athelets, new year. We're not going to focus on what happened last year. They were a better football team than us last year and they've got a really good team this year. We're certainly going to go out there and do the best we can" said Bland Co head coach Harris Hart.

And now even in different districts, getting a win this game, means everything. "It's big you know, but that's our goal every week is to go 1-0" said Martin. "I think if we do everything we need to do this week in practice, and go down there and play, we should be fine" said Saunders.

Both teams are coming off big wins in week one and having the chance to improve to 2-0 makes the stakes even higher. "They're still in the Region C playoffs that we're both vying for spots for, so it's a big game" said Lowe. "Every game we want to win and every game we want to prepare well for and do the best we can. You know if we go out there and get beat we're still going to come back Monday and practice hard. If we go out there and win, we're still going to come back Monday and start getting ready for the next week" said Hart.
