Students, residents come together at town social in Athens

The 31st annual Athens-Concord Town Social took place on Sunday afternoon. Beautiful weather, coupled with lots of vendors and activities, made for a nice turn-out at Concord University.

Several other on-air personalities from WVVA were on-hand. The Town Social offered students, alumni, and local residents an afternoon to socialize and enjoy some free entertainment.

For kids, there was a bounce house and a clown roaming the grounds. For the adults, there was everything from bands to silent auctions.

Concord President Dr. Kendra Boggess says cooperation between the town and the university is key for the event's success. "It's been really successful. So we're really excited by the growth of it. A few years ago, it wasn't nearly this big, but we've gotten some new ideas. It's been really, really positive."

Also during the event, a special ceremony was held, recognizing campus and community service award recipients. And did we mention there was free ice cream?
