Rob is a southern Maryland native, having worked in tobacco fields and oyster boats as a teenager. He became interested in weather as a child, because he wanted to know whether the snow was going to get the kids off school. As a high school freshman, unusual circumstances left him stranded alone at home as a hurricane swept up the mid-Atlantic and flooded his hometown along the Chesapeake Bay. He was sold after that and considers himself somewhat of a “weather nerd.”
Rob recently spent two years forecasting along the Blue Ridge Mountains for Antietam Cable in Hagerstown, Maryland, and was always fond of the mountain areas at a young age after snow skiing in WV and MD. He holds a bachelor of science degree in meteorology, an AA in TV News, and recently passed the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist Seal (CBM) written exam.
In his spare time, Rob enjoys riding his street motorcycle, hiking, cooking (he was a sous chef before changing careers), and hitting the gym a couple days a week.
