85-year-old arrested in domestic shooting in Greenbrier County

GREENBRIER COUNTY (WVVA) -

Police in Greenbrier County arrested an 85-year-old man for allegedly shooting his wife.

It happened around 11:18 a.m. Thursday at a residence on 10th Avenue in the community of Neola. The 71-year-old victim was flown to Charleston Area Medical Center. The extent of her injuries is not known.

Marvel Junior Lamp, 85, was charged with malicious wounding. 

According to Sheriff Bruce Sloan, Lamp used a handgun to shoot his wife. Sheriff Sloan said Lamp also shot the weapon at a neighbor's home on State Route 92.  A search warrant was obtained to search the Lamp residence. 

Mr. Lamp was taken to Southern Regional Jail on $200,000 bond.

Members of the Greenbrier Sheriff's Office, West Virginia State Police, and White Sulphur Springs Police responded to the shooting.

At approximately 11:18 AM Thursday, Greenbrier County 911 received notification of a shooting that occurred at a residence on 10th Avenue in Neola.

Greenbrier County Sheriff's Department deputies arrived and determined a domestic situation occurred between a husband and  a wife, resulting in the wife received a gun shot wound.

She was flown to  Charleston Area Medical Center in Charleston.
