PRINCETON, WV (WVVA) -

UPDATE: A man has been arrested in connection with the armed robbery of a Princeton store owner Monday morning, according to the Princeton Police Department.

Princeton Police arrested 25 year old David Lamar Adams of Princeton around 3:30 Monday afternoon.

Chief John Howell of Princeton P.D. tells WVVA that they were able to obtain surveillance video from a near-by store that helped them identify Adams' get-away vehicle.

Howell says after several tips from the public, they were able to find Adams vehicle parked at the Village Apartments located on Low Gap Road.

After obtaining an arrest warrant, Howell says a resident at the home where Adams' car was parked tipped off the investigators of Adams' location, where he was found in the High Street area. Adams took off on foot and led police in a short pursuit before being apprehended and arrested on Mahood Ave.

Adams now faces 1st degree robbery charges.

Adams is accused of robbing the owner of a local sporting goods store at gunpoint Monday morning.

The owner of H&S Sporting Goods in Princeton told WVVA he was getting out of his car to open the store right before 9:00 a.m. when a man came out from behind a dumpster with a gun and demanded his money. The owner said the gunman took the store deposit money as well as his wallet; about $200 is cash was taken.

According to 911 operators, the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office, Princeton Police Dept., and West Virginia State Police responded to the call.
