Local motocross rider successfully takes his "Leap of Faith"

A local motocross racer delighted the crowd Saturday as he jumped his dirt bike over a church bus at Burning Rock Outdoor Adventure Park in Raleigh County.

The former amateur motocross champion says he gave up the opportunity at a professional career to serve God in 2004.

Before the big jump Whitten delivered a message to the crowd on how the love of Christ changed his life.

Whitten spoke with WVVA News right after he took his "leap of faith" over the bus to tell us how it went.

"Man, it's a great day,” Whitten said. “God gave us some great weather for it, huge crowd, lots of young people, good response. Special thanks to Burning Rock and Bub's Cycle for sponsoring the event, and it's been a great day.

We asked Chase how he felt doing the jump. He replied:

“Jump's great, comfy landing. I don't know how long it is, but we cleared the bus with quite a bit of room."

After the jump, fans got to join in on the fun with a water balloon fight.

Cranberry Baptist Church provided the bus for Saturday's stunt.

Chase says he has another big jump planned later on in the year elsewhere in the country.
