Alexis Johnson was born and raised in the "Steel City," Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Alexis was a student athlete at Penn Hills High School where she was a 3-year starter on the Varsity basketball team. She also played AAU and played at the college level at La Roche College her freshman year before transferring to Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) and "retiring."
She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Communications Media with a minor in Spanish from IUP where she enjoyed participating in IUP-TV and IUP News. After interning for Pittsburgh Community TV21, she worked as a productions coordinator for VITAC Closed Captioning Co.
With a desire to learn more about TV Broadcast, Alexis entered graduate school at Temple University in Philadelphia where she graduated with her Master's Degree in Media Studies and Production in May of 2017. While at Temple, Alexis was a Main Anchor, Reporter, Assistant Producer and Web producer for Temple's Emmy winning newscast Temple Update as she covered major events like the Democratic National Convention and campaign stops from both candidates in the election of 2016.
Alexis also worked as a production assistant at NBC10-WCAU in Philadelphia.
She is a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and served as president of her chapter at IUP. She is a huge fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cleveland Cavaliers, well, Lebron James, that is.
In her free time, Alexis enjoys cooking recipes she finds on Pinterest, being active on social media, watching sports and taking naps.
She's excited to getting adjusted to small town living and telling stories that impact a tight community.
