Representative Evan Jenkins tours fish hatchery

U.S. Representative Evan Jenkins was in White Sulphur Springs today touring the White Sulphur Springs National Fish Hatchery.

On his tour, he viewed the damage that was sustained during the flood where the majority of the fish hatchery was under water. Some of the fisher were seen on the road during and directly after the flood.

The fish hatchery suffered over $1.5 million worth of damage and Representative Jenkins states the importance of getting the hatchery up and running again,
"This is an important asset. Number one, we got people working here. Number two, the fish, the brew fish, the eggs that are generated from here, the mussels, the crayfish, literally go all over the country. This is a real asset and it's something we want to make sure that gets back on its feet and gets working again."

Representative Evan Jenkins says they are currently in the funding cycle to the credit of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife as they are allocating contingency funds to jump start the rehabilitation of the fish hatchery.
