(WVVA) High pressure will continue to keep a wedge of cool air along the east side of the Appalachian Mountains through Saturday morning. An isolated shower is possible this evening, but it will remain dry at most football games. Mostly cloudy skies can be expected east of I-77, while partly cloudy skies will be found west of the interstate. Temperatures this evening will be falling through the seventies into the sixties by 9 o'clock.
A cold front will be well to our west on Saturday, but an upper level feature may touch off a few showers. High temperatures will be close to 80 degrees in most areas. A cold front will approach the area on Sunday, increasing our rain chances. Showers and thunderstorms are expected ahead of the front, with a few thunderstorms potentially dumping heavy rain at times.
Dry air will move into the area by Monday afternoon. An upper level ridge will build into the area next week, keeping us dry and warm. High temperatures are expected to be above normal through the end of next week.
