(WVVA) High pressure located to our northeast will continue to wedge down the east side of the Appalachian mountains. This will cause more cloudiness in areas east of I-77 late Thursday night and on Friday. Partly cloudy skies are expected tonight, with a stray shower possible early. Clouds will develop in eastern areas late Thursday night.
Partly sunny skies are expected on Friday with only an isolated afternoon shower possible. There will be more clouds and temperatures will be slightly cooler east of I-77 on Friday as high pressure continues to wedge cooler air down the east face of the mountains.
A mix of sun and clouds is expected on Saturday with a stray shower possible late in the day. Highs will be in the upper 70s and lower 80s once again. A cold front will move toward our area on Sunday, giving us a better chance for seeing widespread wet weather. The front will slow down as it crosses the area Sunday night, causing showers to linger into Monday morning. High pressure will build into the area Monday afternoon and dry and warm conditions are expected through the middle part of next week.
