Murder suspect extradited to West Virginia

UPDATE: Detectives with the Beckley Police Department confirm Charmaine Kent was extradited to West Virginia on Thursday. Kent was arraigned on a murder charge in Raleigh County Magistrate Court on the same day.  

According to the criminal complaint, witnesses reported that Kent and Christopher Jones, also of Columbus, Ohio, fired into a crowd of at least ten people outside a bar on Neville Street in Beckley on January 30, 2016.

The complaint said three people were shot and one died as a result of the shooting. 

Kent is a convicted felon for having a weapon while under a disability in Columbus, Ohio. She is being held in Southern Regional Jail without bond. 

Christopher Jones is still at large.

UPDATE: Det. Morgan Bragg with the Beckley Police Dept. confirms Charmaine Kent is now in custody.

She was arrested in Columbus, Ohio around 7:15 p.m. She was arrested without incident. Police in Columbus say Kent has an extensive criminal history

Christopher Jones is still wanted in connection with the shooting death of Chante Shyvers, 21, outside a Beckley, WV nightclub. Police say he may be in the Columbus area as well. 

Jones and Kent each faces a first degree murder charge, 10 counts of wanton endangerment, and two counts of malicious wounding. Jones also faces a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm.

Police in Beckley have released the name of the woman killed during in a shooting over the weekend.

Chante Shyvers, 21, was killed around 3 a.m. Saturday near a nightclub on Neville Street.  Two people were also injured. One victim has since been released from the hospital. The other is listed in stable condition.

Two people are still wanted in connection with the murder. Christopher Jones and Charmine Kent each faces a first degree murder charge, 10 counts of wanton endangerment, and two counts of malicious wounding. Jones also faces a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm.

"It appears that this incident in this area is pretty uncommon in that it lacks much of a motive at all. We very rarely have an incident with this level of ignorance," says Det. Morgan Bragg with the Beckley Police Dept.

Jones and Kent are believed to be in the Columbus, Ohio area.
