FAYETTEVILLE, WV (WVVA) -

The Fayette County Sheriff's Office is looking for this armed robber who robbed the Shell station on Route 19 early Saturday morning.

Below is the entire News Release from Sheriff Steve Kessler:

The Fayette County Sheriff's Office is searching for a suspect involved in an armed robbery in Fayetteville early this morning. Sheriff Steve Kessler released the following details concerning this ongoing investigation:
At approximately 3:30 am on Saturday, January 2, 2016 notification was received through the Fayette County 911 Center of a silent alarm at the Shell Station located at the intersection of U.S. Route 19 and Hinkle Road. When Deputies arrived at the scene they found that an individual armed with a small silver-colored handgun, possibly a .38 revolver, had entered the store, brandished a handgun at the clerk and demanded money. After stealing the money the individual then fled from the scene on foot. One of the Sheriff's Office bloodhounds was called to the scene and was able to track the suspect through the wooded area behind the Shell station for a good distance before losing the scent. It is believed that this individual may have fled from the area on an ATV from this point.
The suspect is described as a tall, slender white male, approximately 6-02 and weighing approximately 150-160 pounds. He is believed to have blonde facial hair- possibly a beard or goatee. This individual was wearing layers of clothing, including brown Carhart coveralls, a black ski mask and work boots that were extremely muddy. The suspect was armed with a small silver-colored handgun and fled on foot into the wooded area behind the Shell station on Hinkle Road.
During the late evening hours of Friday, January 1, 2016 the Fayetteville Police Department responded to a report of an attempted break-in in progress at the Fayetteville Airport located just across Hinkle Road from the Shell station. The description of the suspect involved in that incident matches the description of the suspect involved in this robbery. Because of this earlier incident and the suspect's detailed knowledge of the operations and practices of the Shell station, investigators believe that the suspect is from the local area.
This incident remains under investigation by the Fayette County Sheriff's Office. Anyone with any information concerning this incident or the possible identity of the suspect is asked to contact the Fayette County 911 Center at (304) 574-3590 or Crime Stoppers at (304) 255-7867.
