(WVVA) A front that is nearly stationary will continue to be a focal point for rain showers, some of which could be heavy at times, especially Friday evening.
The ground is very saturated from several rounds of rain. Additional heavy rainfall may produce flooding and flash flooding.
A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for Mercer, Monroe, Summers, Greenbrier, Tazewell, Bland, Giles and Wythe counties from midnight Christmas Eve through (midnight) 12am Saturday.
A Flood Watch is in effect for McDowell, Wyoming, Raleigh, Fayette, Pocahontas and Buchanan counties from 4pm Christmas Day through Sunday at 4am. Some areas may receive up to 3 inches of rain by early Sunday morning.
Flash flooding is very dangerous situation and you should seek higher ground if flooding is observed. Never drive through a flood waters. “Turn around, don't drown.”
