Victim identified in Beckley shooting

Police in Beckley have identified the woman shot on Hager Street in Beckley.

Yolonda Walker, 30, was "struck in the leg by gunfire while she lay in her bed" on December 22.  According to the news release,  she was not involved in any incident that led to the shooting. Walker is listed in stable condition at a local hospital. 

Police say they are currently in the process of locating and interviewing multiple "persons of interest."

Ashley Kay Allen, 18. of Beckley was arrested by responding officers on a separate shots-fired incident that occurred shortly after officers arrived on scene for the shooting investigation. Police say between seven and ten shots were fired in the vicinity of Hartley and Bostic Ave. around 10 p.m. Tuesday night. Allen was seen running in the area and was stopped by officers. Two handguns were found in her possession. Allen is currently being held in Southern Regional Jail on $25, 000 bond.

Officers have not ruled out any connection amongst these incidents and are investigating that possibility.

Shortly after 10pm on 12/22/2015, officers of the Beckley Police Department responded to a shooting at 123 Hager Street.  It was discovered that one female victim had been struck once by gunfire, she was transported to a local hospital and is listed in stable condition.  It appears at this time that the victim was an innocent bystander in this incident.  Officers are in the process of interviewing witnesses and reviewing nearby video surveillance footage and have identified multiple persons of interests.  Several reports of shots fired were received, some occurring in the area as officers were present.  One such incident led to the arrest of a subject and recovery of two firearms and ammunition.  Detectives are investigating any possible connections amongst the incidents.

A woman is arrested after multiple shots are fired in Beckley. 

According to court documents, between seven and ten shots were fired from the intersection of Hartley and Bostic Ave. around 10 p.m. Tuesday night. 

Responding officers noticed two people running away from the scene and stopped them.  During a pat down search, officers found two handguns;  a Cobra .380 and a Titan .25. 

Ashley Kay Allen, 18, of Beckley is charged with wanton endangerment and illegal possession of a firearm.  She is currently being held in Southern Regional Jail on a $25,000 bond.

Police say an innocent bystander was shot during a separate incident earlier Tuesday night  and is listed in stable condition at a local hospital.

BECKLEY, W. Va. -- One person is shot and taken to the hospital Tuesday night in Raleigh County.

According to Detective Sergeant Morgan Bragg withe the Beckley Police Department a shooting occurred at 123 Hager Street in Beckley shortly after 10 Tuesday night. 

A female victim was shot and taken to a local hospital in stable condition.  At this time in the investigation the victim appears to be an innocent bystander to the incident. 

There were multiple reports of shots fired in the area Tuesday night.  Several people of interest have been identified.  One person was arrested, and two firearms, along with ammunition were recovered.  Connections among the incidents are being investigated by the Beckley Police Department.
