RALEIGH COUNTY (WVVA) A teacher aide in Raleigh County is charged with battery after deputies say she smacked a child in the face.
According to the Raleigh County Sheriff's Office, a video of the incident was recorded by a teacher at Daniels Elementary on September 29. Investigators were contacted by the county Board of Education on that day.
Melinda K, Bennett, 50, was arrested on October 9 and charged with battery after a "complete investigation." Investigators say the male child was 8-years-old at the time.

The official minutes of a Special Meeting of the Raleigh County Board of Education held on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 show that the Board of Education unanimously upheld my recommendation for the suspension and termination of Melinda Bennett from her position as an Aide at Daniels Elementary.
Ms. Bennett has filed a Level 3 grievance appeal seeking re-instatement to her former position.
