Armed robbery suspect caught in McDowell County

A man suspected of robbing a store near War is found hiding in an abandoned home.

According to Sgt. James Muncy with the McDowell County Sheriff's Office, Derek Rose, 25, was found around 6 a.m. Friday after multiple searches were conducted in the Bartley area.

Rose was wanted in connection with the robbery of the English Hillbilly Market Tuesday night. He will be charged with armed robbery, petit larceny, and brandishing a deadly weapon.

UPDATE:  Deputies in McDowell County are looking for a man wanted in connection with an armed robbery.

Derek Rose, 25, of Bartley is a suspect in the robbery of the English Hillbilly Market near War. At some point during the robbery the store clerk was held hostage. She was eventually let go.

Rose will be charged with armed robbery, petit larceny, and brandishing a deadly weapon. If you have any information on the whereabouts of Derek Rose, call 911 or the McDowell County Sheriff's Office at 304-436-8526.

Sgt. James Muncy with the McDowell County Sheriff's Office says he expects a warrant to be issued later today for the person responsible for abducting the clerk at English Hillbilly Market, near War.

The call came in to dispatchers about 11:30 Tuesday night.

Muncy says the hostage situation was resolved before deputies arrived at the scene but that a robbery had taken place.

On 12-08-2015 at approx. 23:30 hrs (11:30pm) Deputies from the McDowell County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a complaint of an Armed Robbery/Hostage Situation in the English Area (Near War) of McDowell County. The Store was the English Hillbilly Market, Upon further details the Deputies learned that it was no longer a Hostage Situation due to the Suspect fleeing and that the clerk was let go. This is still an ongoing investigation and no names and further details will be released at this time. Warrants for the suspect are forthcoming.
