SUMMERS COUNTY, WV (WVVA) Charges are pending against a Summers County student for bringing a gun to school.

Troopers with the West Virginia State Police were called out to Summers County High School on November 20 after school officials were made aware of a possible firearm on campus. According to a news release from Sgt. D.M. McMIllian, "After isolating the student and searching the school, no firearm was located."

Another search of the school was conducted over Thanksgiving break but no gun was found. When students and staff returned to school on November 20 troopers from the Hinton detachment were there to ensure safety and continue their investigation.

On Monday, November 20, troopers were able to confirm a gun was brought to the high school. The juvenile student has been suspended and is in the process of being expelled. Sgt. McMillian says the firearm has been recovered and criminal charges are pending.
