19-year-old arrested for shooting in McDowell County


A McDowell County man is facing a list of charges after allegedly shooting someone over the weekend.

According to West Virginia State Police, the shooting happened late Saturday or early Sunday on Wolfpen Branch near Jolo, McDowell County.

Troopers say Nathan Lester, 19, of Jolo was agitated following an argument with his girlfriend. He had left Wolfpen Branch and when he returned to continue the argument, the victim, a male, jumped in to stop it.That's when troopers say Lester shot the man. Several others at the party intervened, starting a fight. Lester was arrested by Trooper E.W. Boothe without incident. 

The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries. He was treated at the hospital, but has since been released.

Nathan Lester is charged with malicious wounding, wanton endangerment, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, and under age consumption.

During his arraignment troopers say Lester posted a $25, 000 bond and was released from their custody.
