Greenbrier County businesses compete for awards

10 Greenbrier County businesses are in the running to be named the best in 14 categories. In Lewisburg, Hill and Holler is up for best pizza and best bike shop.

"It's shining light more on what we offer in this area,” said Stew Schwav, bike technician.

Nominees are up against four other businesses from 10 states.

"The competition is stiff,” said Schwav.

Winning a category gives a business bragging rights, but also draws in new customers.

"A tourist comes in and they want to know, we'll be like oh well that was top rated in the Blue Ridge magazine. It just gives you a little more credibility and gets your name out there a little bit more,” said Kristi Godby of the Greenbrier Valley Visitors Center.

Another Lewisburg favorite, Jim's Drive In is on the list for best burgers.

"We hope the homemade aspect of it, the family aspect of it, we hope that really helps us, and our customers,” said Lynn Massie of Jim’s Drive In.

Stardust Cafe is also in the race for best burger. The Irish Pub, the Wild Bean, Del Sol, and The Greenbrier are also in the competition. The Greenbrier Valley Brewing Company even has a beer in the contest. In other categories, the Greenbrier River Campground and the Greenbrier River Trail are up for some titles.

"It's primarily like an outdoor magazine, which reaches an area that is up and coming, but not necessarily our strongest area. So it's a really good audience to draw tourists from,” said Godby.
