FOREST HILL, WV (WVVA) - Deputies are investigating the double murder of an older couple in Summers County and the son is now headed to jail.

John Gadd, 45, is charged with two counts of concealing a dead body and two counts of a felon in possession of a firearm.

Sheriff Garry Wheeler says Gadd called 9-1-1 Tuesday morning, saying his parents have been dead in their Forest Hill home for two to three days.

Wheeler says he is not releasing the names of the couple as they work to notify next of kin.

The sheriff they believe the son was staying at the home with the dead bodies, however he will not give deputies a statement.

"I think it actually started out as some sort of an altercation," explains Wheeler. "Maybe not necessarily an altercation, but maybe just a verbal thing and it just got worse as time went on. Then the guns came out. I mean, we recovered two guns at the scene."

Wheeler says the husband was shot at least once with a shotgun and the mother was shot at least twice, possibly with two different weapons.

Gadd is being taken to Southern Regional Jail on a $12,000 cash only bond.
