Delp Family Color Run and Festival set for September 15 at BSC

Bluefield, WV —The annual run to raise funds for the Brian Delp Humanitarian Athletic Scholarship at Bluefield State College sports a new name and flavor this year.  The “Delp Family Color Run and Festival,” September 15 at 5:30 pm, begins and ends on the BSC campus and will be followed by a cookout.  The event is a featured activity during Bluefield State’s 2015 Homecoming.

“We’re excited about the Delp Family Color Run,” observed Betty Carroll, Executive Director of the BSC Foundation.  “The format change from a 5K to a one-mile color run and festival focuses upon fun activities for adults, students, and younger children.”  Runners and walkers are showered with colored powder, made from food-grade corn starch, at color stations along the one-mile route.

Early entry fee is $15 ($18 on the day of the event), and families of four receive a special package rate of $30.  Students and children will receive a discount.  Each entrant receives a color run t-shirt and sunglasses.  There will be a cookout and festival for all event participants in the Student Center parking lot after the run.

The Delp Family Color Run and Festival raises funds for the Brian A. Delp Humanitarian Athletic Award in memory of Brian Delp, an outstanding BSC student leader and athlete who lost his life when he was struck by a car while helping a stranded motorist. The Run was created ten years ago by the BSC Student Athletic Advisory Committee.
