Missing Tazewell County man found safe


TAZEWELL COUNTY, VA (WVVA) A man reported missing in Tazewell County has been found safe. 

According to Major Harold Heatley with the Tazewell County Sheriff's Office, James Dye, 50, was found on U.S. Route 460 in the Pounding Mill area.

Major Heatley says Dye was found by some people passing by who confronted the missing man. They then called 911. 

Dye was taken to Clinch Valley Medical Center for evaluation. He has some minor abrasions but no significant injuries.

Major Heatley says search and rescue operations are wrapping-up after a nearly 20 hour operation.

NEWS RELEASE- The Tazewell County Sheriffs Office is conducting a search in the Pounding Mill area of Tazewell County for James Douglas Dye, 50 y/o, white male approximately 6' tall and 230 pounds.

Mr. Dye left his residence at about noon on Monday, entering the woods wearing a gray Under Armor t-shirt, shorts and tennis shoes.

There are a number of agencies assisting with the search including VSP, Dept. of Corrections, Richlands Fire and Rescue, Bluefield Va. Fire, Rescue 7, Black Diamond Search and Rescue additional agencies providing search assistance are Washington and Russell County Sheriffs Offices, Bluefield  Va. And Richlands Police Departments.
