UPDATE: School officials are allowing parents to pick up students at Summers  County Middle School. The school is classified as being 'on lockdown' status.

Students who go home will not be counted absent and testing for the day has been canceled. However, police in Hinton are advising parents not to pick their children up from school. They say there is no evidence to led them to believe the middle school was specifically targeted.
