West Virginia lawmaker enters plea to DUI charge

MCDOWELL COUNTY, WV (WVVA) A state lawmaker from McDowell County enters a 'no contest' plea to first offense driving intoxicated.

According to court officials, Delegate Clifton "Clif" Moore entered the plea on Tuesday in Magistrate Court in front of special Magistrate Jerry Flanagan out of Mercer County.

Moore was arrested on March, 29, 2014 in the early morning hours on Route 52 in the Maybeury area. At the time, troopers with the West Virginia State Police told WVVA they were on routine patrol when they saw Moore's vehicle swerve from left to right and cross the center line. Moore failed a field sobriety test. 

In court on Tuesday, Moore was sentenced to time served and fined $100.

Over Thanksgiving holiday in 2012, Moore was pulled over in Columbus, Ohio and charged with operating a vehicle while under the influence.. He served a court-ordered six-day sentence at a minimum-security facility that councils offenders on chemical dependency.
