Mercer County residents gear up for annual Alzheimer's walk

Posted:
PRINCETON, W.VA. (WVVA) – With the 2015 Walk to End Alzheimer's® planning underway, volunteers and community members are encouraged to join the 2015 Volunteer Kickoff event on Thursday, April 2 at 5:30 p.m. at Bellacino's Pizza & Grinders in Princeton.

“Without committed volunteers, the Walk to End Alzheimer's® wouldn't be possible,” said Laurel Kirksey, Executive Director of the Alzheimer's Association, West Virginia Chapter. “Volunteers truly are the heart and soul of our organization. We always need volunteers to expand our capacity to serve the thousands of West Virginians and their families living with this devastating disease.”

The Volunteer Kickoff is open to the public and a great way for Mercer County residents to learn more about the 2015 Walk to End Alzheimer's® Planning Committee and how to get involved. Community volunteers are critical to the Walk to End Alzheimer's® and more volunteers are always welcome. The Volunteer Kickoff will be an exciting event bringing together current volunteers and anyone interested in joining the planning committee.

Walk to End Alzheimer's is the world's largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer's Association care, support and research programs. This annual event serves to unite the community in a movement to reclaim the future for the more than 5 million Americans affected by Alzheimer's disease.
