GREENBRIER COUNTY (WVVA) -

The oldest courthouse being used in the Mountain State may see an addition in the future.

The Greenbrier County Courthouse was built in 1837.

And with a new commission president and a new commissioner, there are big plans for the future.

Commission President Mike McClung says one of the things he is focused on is getting the courthouse some much needed care. But he also hopes to expand.

"This build that we are in is the oldest still in use courthouse in West Virginia and on the mechanical side, it's way behind today's standards," he said.  "On the long-term wish list, this building is also full and we rent space elsewhere and if we could somehow finance a courthouse annex, we could improve that situation."

Commissioner McClung isn't sure how those projects will be financed just yet.

The commission will go over their budget next month.
