Local writers, artists encouraged to submit works to BC's Bluestone Review

Bluefield College is encouraging all students and the local community to get creative and submit their works to the 20th edition of The Bluestone Review.

The Bluestone Review is a literary magazine published by Bluefield College students under the direction of Dr. Rob Merritt, a BC professor of English,

“The Bluestone Review is a great way to begin or continue your adventure as an artist, poet, or author,” said Mikaela Hurst, student co-editor of The Review with Mallory Campbell. “Even if you do not have intentions of pursuing those career fields, this magazine is an amazing opportunity to be a part of something bigger than yourself.”

Submission guidelines are as follows: five works per contributor maximum, with a word limit of 750 words per literary piece. Contributions can include poetry, creative non-fiction, fiction, song lyrics, artwork, and photography.

All works must be submitted by Monday March 2, 2015 to be eligible for publication. Contributors should submit their works by email to bluestone@bluefield.edu. For postal mail, send to: Bluefield College, The Bluestone Review, 3000 College Drive, Box #168, Bluefield, Virginia 24605.

Along with your submission, contributors are asked to please include your name, address, contact information, Twitter username (if applicable), and one biographical sentence. If your work is published, you will receive two free copies of the magazine.

In April, as part of the Bluefield College Appalachian Festival, the college will host a reception celebrating the release of the 20th edition of The Bluestone Review at which time contributors will have the opportunity to read or present their works.
