BLUEFIELD, WV (WVVA) A Tazewell County man arrested in December for impersonating a police officer is busted again.

Dana Pruett Jr. is charged with seven counts of impersonating a police officer in West Virginia, three in Bluefield and four in Beckley.

Mercer County Magistrate Susan Honaker says the charges are misdemeanors with a possible fine of $100-$1000 for each count. Pruett's bond in Mercer County was set at $2500. Honaker could not comment on the bond set in Raleigh County. Honaker says he was able to make bail.

The investigation into Pruett's activities in West Virginia began after his arrest in Tazewell County in December. According to the criminal complaint in Mercer County, Pruett pretended to be a police officer responding to a domestic situation on August 6, 2014. Det. K.L. Adams states Pruett told a woman at a residence in Bluefield to "call him Corporal Pruett, and showed her a badge which was inside his wallet." She says he took pictures and "even filled out some sort of report" before taking her grandson to the Mercer Mall. The domestic situation involved the woman's grandson and his wife. Pruett is also accused of contacting family members in Summers County about the incident which resulted the couple's children to be temporarily taken from them.

Another instance listed in the criminal complaint involved a former coworker of Pruett. The accused once worked as a loss prevention manager at Sears in the Mercer Mall.. The coworker claims Pruett would always wear a firearm and multiple badges and tell everyone "he was a special conservator of the peace." The coworker says he went on a "ride along" in August 2014 and observed Pruett perform a traffic stop on College Avenue. During the stop, Pruett is accused of telling the driver to remove his vehicle from the roadway or face arrest.

Back in December, Pruett was arrested by the Tazewell County Sheriff's Office for impersonating a police officer. According to Sheriff Brian Hieatt, Pruett had blue lights set up in his car and approached officers in several jurisdictions asking if they needed assistance. At the time, Pruett had posted multiple photos on his Facebook account wearing full police uniforms.

According to The News Virginian, Pruett was arrested at a hospital in Augusta County, VA for impersonating a deputy with the Tazewell County Sheriff's Office in January 2013. Hospital staff stated Pruett had arrived there wearing a vest and carrying a firearm. Pruett denied the accusation to law enforcement.
