FAYETTE COUNTY (WVVA) A police chief in Fayette County finds himself on the other side of the law.

Aaron Jason Roop, 32, the current Chief of Police in Cedar Grove, is charged with two counts of domestic battery, domestic assault, and brandishing a weapon.

Roop was arrested around 3:50 a.m. Tuesday at a residence on 3rd Avenue in Montgomery. The call came in as a possible domestic hostage situation. When officers arrived on scene, they say Roop was on the front porch armed with a handgun.

Roop is currently being held in Southern Regional Jail on $7,500 bond.

This isn't the first time Roop had been arrested while serving as police chief. In February 2014, he was arrested on assault and brandishing charges for allegedly threatening a man outside a Smithers grocery store.
