Veterans Coffee Hour program coming to Tazewell County

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) at Clinch Valley Community Action, Inc. will sponsor a new veteran's service program at two locations in Tazewell County. Veterans Coffee Hour will provide opportunities for veterans, active duty military, and their family members to visit and enjoy a hot beverage and a snack while being provided with a variety of community service information. Family members of deceased veterans are especially invited to attend the meetings. Service and community resource information will include such topics as healthcare and the Affordable Care Act; housing and small home repairs; independent living needs; utility assistance; medication safety; child and adult care; transportation; advance directives; simple wills; disaster preparedness; and much more.

The first meeting will be held on Monday, December 8th, 2:00 pm, at the Fuller-Peery Building at the Tazewell County Fairgrounds. The second meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 9th, 2:00 pm, at Rescue 945 in Boissevain. All veterans, active service military or family members that attend are asked to come to the first meeting with ideas and suggestions for topics and focuses for future Veterans Coffee Hours.
