UPDATE: Two arrested, victims identified in McDowell County double murder

UPDATE: WELCH, WV (WVVA) According to Sergeant Christian of the Welch State Police Detachment, Troy Justice and Donald Bailey confessed to the homicide after their arrest.

Sergeant Christian also told WVVA news that alcohol was involved in the incident.

Both men are being held without bail pending appearance before a circuit judge.


UPDATE: West Virginia State Police commander Captain B.L. Mankins told WVVA News Tuesday morning that Troopers from the Welch detachment arrested two men in connection with the early Sunday morning murders of 21-year-old Brandon Church of Ieager and 46-year-old Clinton Mullins of Garland.


Troopers arrested 22-year-old Troy Lee Justice of Panther and Donald Bailey (age unknown) of Crumpler.  Both men are charged with third-degree arson and conspiracy.  Bailey is charged with two counts of first-degree murder.  Justice is charged with two counts of accessory to murder.


PANTHER, WV (WVVA) The West Virginia State Police is investigating a vehicle fire that occurred in the Panther area Sunday October 19th, around 3 a.m.

The vehicle was found engulfed in fire with two bodies inside on Panther-Mohawk road. McDowell County dispatchers say both victims had also been shot.

Panther Fire Chief Rebel Conyers was first to respond to the scene. He believes was a small Ford pick-up truck.

"We got the fire out. We put it out and then we found out that there were two bodies in there," Conyers says. "That's when we notified the state fire marshall, state police, and everybody else that needed to be notified."

According to Lt. Michael Baylous of the West Virginia State Police, the bodies were both male but have not been identified.


MCDOWELL COUNTY (WVVA) Two people with gunshot wounds are found dead in McDowell county early Sunday morning.

Dispatchers confirmed they received a call around 3:00 a.m. that two men were found dead in a car.  They had been shot. WVVA has learned the bodies were found burned in the vehicle. 

West Virginia State Police out of Welch is investigating. No details are being released.

The men were found in Long Pole Rd., near Litwar, WV.
