Man flees police, crashes into cruiser to avoid DUI checkpoint

PRINCETON, WV (WVVA) On Sunday, September 21,2014 at a little after midnight WV State Police were conducting a DUI Checkpoint on Oakvale Road in Princeton.

Troopers say a newer model Chevrolet Sonic entered the checkpoint and immediately backed up in an apparent attempt to elude police.

TFC J.M. Ellison turned on his lights and went after the car. The driver did not stop. According to a press release, the driver of the Chevy Sonic was Deliezha Gravely. 

Troopers caught up with Gravely on Washington Avenue in Princeton when he hit another trooper's marked car. He and a passenger got out of the car and ran.

The passenger was able to get away. Gravely was immediately arrested. Deliezha Gravely is charged with felony fleeing, DUI, fleeing on foot, obstructing and numerous traffic violations. Trooper say he admitted to drinking and smoking marijuana
