Hundreds remember former WV state Senator Keith Wagner

MCDOWELL COUNTY (WVVA) - Former West Virginia state Senator Keith Wagner, or Mr. Wagner as he was known at River View High School, was laid to rest on Saturday.

The 61-year-old father of two from Iaegar, WV passed away on Monday.

Hundreds of people showed up to remember him at the high school in Bradshaw, McDowell County.

He was their drivers ed teacher and known as the voice of the Raiders as their sports announcer.

Students took it very hard, many crying and holding each other through the service.

"Everybody, I mean everybody at this school loved him, was very near, dear to him," student Andrew Marshall told WVVA. "Was just a major impact on this school and without him it's just going to be a tragic loss."

Governor Earl Ray Tomblin even came to say goodbye to the former state senator.

Everyone talked about Mr. Wagner's favorite day being hump day and how he would carry around a camel getting students equally excited about Wednesdays.

Some said the school will never be the same without him.
