UPDATE: Two arrested after Beckley shooting

Two people are in custody after being involved in a shooting that sent one man to the hospital.

Beckley Police arrested Jermaine Johnson, 24, of Beckley and a 17 year old juvenile in connection to the shooting that happened around 3 p.m. Saturday in east Beckley.

Police were called to a home on Summers St. where Tyrell Smith was shot twice, in the hip and the wrist.

Cpl. M.P. Deems says he remains in stable condition.

The two suspects pulled up to the home, shot multiple rounds at Smith and then drove away, according to police.

"From the victim and a female inside of the residence, from an anonymous tip from a lady that called in, said the vehicle was over on Antonio Avenue," Deems said. "We responded over there, got into a shot vehicle pursuit, and they were taken into custody from there."

Johnson and the juvenile have been charged with attempted first degree murder, two counts of wanton endangerment, and felony conspiracy. Johnson is being held in Southern Regional Jail Saturday night and is expected to be arraigned Sunday morning.

The juvenile is being sent to a detention center pending a Circuit Court Detention hearing.

Police are still investigating the motive and the relationship between the three men.
