Fight between two juveniles recorded on cell phone

OAK HILL (WVVA) The Fayette County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fight between two juvenile boys that is circulating on social media.

It happened around 6 p.m. on Monday at the Oak Hill City Park. According to Sheriff Steve Kessler,  a 14-year-old juvenile was attacked by another male of the same age inside the dugout on a baseball field. The juvenile victim was hit several times in the face before being kicked in the face and ribs. He was treated in released at a local hospital.

There were several witnesses at the scene, including one who captured the beating on a cell phone. Investigators were able to secure the phone as evidence in the assault.

"There has been a great deal of inaccurate information concerning this incident circulating on various social media. This was an altercation between two juveniles, not an incident where one juvenile was assaulted by a group of perpetrators. The juvenile victim was injured, but he did not suffer life-threatening injuries. People should remember that not everything they see on social media sites is the pure and unadulterated truth." says Kessler.

Information for a juvenile petition has been filed against the boy accused in the beating. By state law, limited information can be released in connection with criminal proceedings against juvenile defendants.
