Raleigh County School Officials Address I-Pad Issues

Beckley (WVVA) The I-Pad took Raleigh County schools by storm in 2013, with almost every student receiving a new tablet.

This year, the school system is continuing its work to phase out textbooks.

According to Technology Coordinator, Mary Ann Foster, the transition has been a massive undertaking not without bumps in the road.

"The training wheels are off. They're going to fly. I'm excited for our teachers and for our students. Last year, they didn't know what to expect. They do this year," said Foster.

Last year, Foster said there was a glitch with students having trouble turning in assignments and parents setting up alternative IDs.

Now, she says they've addressed those problems with new programs to coordinate class work, including I-Tunes U and E-Backpack. Foster said they've also enhanced security settings on tablets to deter parents from setting up alternative IDs.
