Kanawha County Prosecutor has hearing in Mercer County for domestic abuse case

MERCER COUNTY (WVVA) Kanawha County Prosecuting Attorney Mark Plants was in a Mercer County Magistrate Court Friday for a domestic abuse case involving him and his ex-wife.

Magistrate Mike Flanigan denied a motion from Plants to dismiss the conditions of his current bond and go straight to his trial on domestic battery and violating a domestic violence petition.

Plant has been ordered to go into a batterers' intervention prevention program in Putman County before he goes to trial. Special Prosecutor Sid Bell sees the BIPP program  a good thing for Mr. Plant and his family.

"We are hoping the magistrate, if he schedules a trial, it will be for a date that would be after the scheduled  completion of the BIPPS class. If Mr Plants would go through the BIPPS program, I think it should be seen as a positive development, not something to be held against him," says Special Prosecutor Sid Bell.

There will be a compliance hearing for Mr. Plants on August 27 in Kanawha County in front of Magistrate Mike Flanigan.
