September 15 proclaimed 'Julie Kade Day'

During the halftime ceremonies at Princeton Senior High School, one very special Mercer County Schools' Teacher received quite a surprise. FAIRLEA, WV (WVVA) -Most high school choirs don't ever get the opportunity to sing with a world-renowned band.

But Thursday night, Greenbrier East High School is getting to do just that Thursday with Foreigner who is performing at the State Fair of West Virginia.

When the group tours, they don't travel with a choir to sing their hit song, "I Want to Know What Love Is." They actually like to have local choirs come join them on stage.

So the State Fair picked their neighbor, the Spartans, for the job. And the kids couldn't be more excited.

"I'm definitely going to remember this and probably, hopefully, get a framed picture or something," said singer Derek Modlin. "I'm really excited to sing with them. Definitely something I'm going to remember forever."

Unfortunately, the nearly 80 kids in the choir couldn't come, so the choral director had to narrow it down to 25.

But those kids already have shirts made to remember the occasion.

Foreigner takes the stage at 8 p.m. on Thursday.
