Attorney General files suit against Beckley tree service

(WVVA) West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey has filed a complaint and petition for temporary and permanent injunction against John Teague, owner of "John's Tree Service & Landscaping Inc."

The suit alleges that Teague and his business did not complete tree trimming or landscaping jobs, failed to clean up debris from unfinished jobs, and refused to refund consumers' money on jobs he didn't finish.

“Our Office works tirelessly to protect West Virginia consumers from not only scams and fraud, but also from contractors and businesses with less than desirable business practices," says Morrisey.

The Attorney General's Office has received about a dozen complaints against Teague so far. Morrisey says Teague's corporate charter was revoked in 2008 by the West Virginia Secretary of State's Office and his business is not currently licensed with the West Virginia Department of Labor or the Department of Tax Revenue.

"There are a lot of good contractors and businesses out there that are looking to help West Virginia Consumer. We urge consumers to always verify a contractor's license and do their homework before hiring someone," says Morrisey.

The civil action number is 14-C-781. A copy of the petition can be found here.
