McDowell County gets $8 million for clean water

KIMBALL (WVVA) The McDowell County PSD gets nearly $8 million in grants and loans to help bring clean water to thousands of residents.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held Tuesday in Kimball. A $5.9 million grant and $2 million in loans from the U.S. Department of Agriculture will be used for Phase I of the Elkhorn Regional Water Project.

“It's crucial to a community like ours for long-term vitality and revitalization to have infrastructure like clean water,” says McDowell County resident Shaun Nebi.

The project will upgrade water service for residents in Kimball, Keystone, Northfork, and Maybeury. Officials expect to have Phase I compete by July 2015.
