UPDATE: An Amber Alert issued for a missing 3 year old boy has been canceled. 

According to the Patrick County, VA Sheriff's Office, Tommy Lee Able Engle, 3, has been safely located in Pikeville, Kentucky.

The Amber Alert was issued on Tuesday around 6:10 p.m. Tommy Lee Travis Engle, 34, was taken into custody without incident at 12:50 p.m. Wednesday. Police say the elder Tommy Engle spoke with law enforcement by cell phone throughout Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. During that time, he indicated the child was fine and let law enforcement talk to his son.

Tommy Lee Travis Engle  is currently being held  in the Pike County Jail awaiting extradition back to Virginia where he faces two felony assault charges against the child's mother.

PATRICK COUNTY, Va. --  The search is on for a 3-year-old boy after an Amber Alert is issued in Virginia.

Virginia State Police say Tommy Lee Able Engle, 3, was likely abducted by his father, Tommy Lee Travis Engle.

The boy is believed to be in extreme danger. Police say the father has made suicidal and homicidal threats.

They may be traveling in a 2001 navy blue Dodge Neon, with Virginia license plate WNZ9169.
