FAIRLEA (WVVA) - The State Fair Of West Virginia is only days away and the employees are hard at work putting everything together.

Sunday morning only five rides were finished. Now, the fairgrounds are filled with men constructing the remaining fifty.

Even with such a short time frame, these workers are not skipping a beat. They're making sure the rides are safe for families.

"They can perform miracles," explained ride inspector Tom Jones. "They can move and do things very quickly, very safely and very professionally."

"We inspect, we have our own safety program, our own inspection program, the state has one that we adhere to and then we also have a third party inspector," said Jeff Albert, the safety coordinator with Reithoffer Shows, the company that brings in the rides. "The more eyes on things the safer they can be."

They inspect everything from the seat belts and wheels down to each bolt.

Even once the fair starts, inspections continue, including drug tests for the ride operators.

Alberts says he won't pass any ride that he wouldn't put his own kids on. "My kids are out here, they ride the rides, my grandkids ride the ride. Every kids that rides, every kids that comes through the gate is my kid."

The fair runs August 8 - 16.
