Jury Selection Begins for Man Accused of Killing Step-Father

Beckley -- Jury selection began on Tuesday for a man accused of killing his step-father.

Donald Dunn, 24, is on trial for the murder of his step-father and attempted murder of his mother in May of 2013.

On Monday, a pre-trial hearing was held to decide whether an expert witness for the defense would be allowed to testify.

The defense hopes to use a psychologist from Charleston to add credence to their claim that Dunn's use of synthetic marijuana led to impaired judgement the day of the murder.

But while Dunn's attorney made the case to keep their expert witness, the prosecution attempted to punch holes in Dunn's Diminished Capacity defense. They said there simply isn't enough evidence to link synthetic marijuana to violent acts. A decision by Judge John Hutchison is expected on Tuesday.
