Honoring Korean War Veterans

ATHENS (WVVA)- On Friday, July 25, 2014 Concord University Officials held an Observance of Korean War Veterans Recognition Day.

To kick start the event the Color Guard presented the flags. Organizers then introduced James Kahle of Bluefield, VA. He was the guest speaker.

During the Korean War, Kahle fought in the Air Force 1st Combat Evaluation. In his speech he touched on his life during the war and after. "We just answered a call and went over there. And did what we were told to do, came home when they let us or when it was over," says Kahle

The ceremony was held in the Wilkes Family Chapel. Veterans and supporters came to share their thanks for all who served.

Immediately after Kahle's speech organizers played a special remembrance video. Saturday, July 27, 2014 marks 61-years since the Armistice Agreement was signed, ending the war.
