Man flown to Raleigh Co. after ATV accident

A man is life-flighted this morning after losing control on his ATV and falling down a mountainside.

The 32-year-old victim was flown from Frankford to Raleigh General Hospital where West Virginia Senior State Trooper Brett Simmons says he is being treated for back injuries.

Simmons says the victim was trying to pass a car on a one-lane road at about 8 a.m. this morning. He was passing on the side near the edge of the cliff and fell about 60-feet down the mountain. "He actually lost control on the gravel and slid into a small tree and from there it was a steep embankment down and the atv actually began rolling and he was thrown off the atv at that point."

The woman in the car witnessed the fall and called 911. She stayed until help arrived.
