Hinton, WV – The REACHH-Family Resource Center, Children’s Home Society and Youth Opportunities are teaming up to sponsor the First Annual “Back to School BASH”. On Thursday, August 7, students in grades 6-12 are invited to the Memorial Building in Hinton from 6:00-8:00 pm for an evening of music (live DJ), food and snacks, a juice bar, door prizes and giveaways, a photo booth for candids of you and your friends and more. The first 100 students will receive book bags chocked full of school supplies needed to start the year off right. Supplies are tailored to the needs of older students, with items such as calculators, notebooks, mechanical pencils, binders and flash drives.
LateNite DJ (Duane Kennedy) out of Athens will be providing entertainment with the latest music. Hot dogs and other “cook out” food will be available as well as soda, water and a juice bar. Several local businesses have donated gift cards to be given as door prizes including cards from Game Stop, McDonalds, Amazon, Itunes and more! We will also have a “photo booth” set up with props and costumes for selfies and candid pictures with your friends.
The event is FREE for all rising 6-12th graders in Summers County. When asked about why this event was important for Summers County, REACHH Executive Director Beth Sizemore said “In addition to getting a book bag with school supplies, students will have fun in a safe and friendly environment as well as see old friends and meet new ones. This is the first of many events we have planned for young folks in Summers County.”
