Don’t miss naming your own price to see Theatre West Virginia’s much-loved “Hatfields and McCoys” at one of three Pay What You Wish Wednesdays over the month of July. Proceeds for each Pay What You Wish Wednesday will be shared with area charities.
“This is a new concept this year,” said General Manager Scott Hill. “We don’t want finances to stand in the way or impede anyone in our area from seeing theater, and this is a way the theater can give back to the community, which has given so much to help us this season.”
Proceeds for the first Pay What You Wish Wednesday on July 16 will be shared with Just For Kids, Inc of Beckley. This evening is also sponsored by Crossroads Mall. On July 23, proceeds will be split with the Hospice of Southern West Virginia, an organization that serves the needs of families coping with life-limiting illnesses. Lastly, the third Pay What You Wish Wednesday will be held on July 30, and proceeds will go to help find forever homes for animals through the Raleigh County Humane Society.
Since 1970, Billy Ed Wheeler’s “Hatfields and McCoys” has been a summer staple of Theatre West Virginia, telling the story of West Virginia’s most famous feud. While the show is about the famous feud, it is also a story about love, redemption and second chances, said Hill.
Pay What You Wish tickets can be purchased at the Cliffside Amphitheatre at Grandview National Park, Beaver, W.Va., on the evening of the performances. Music begins at 7 p.m. and the show will begin immediately following the singing of America’s National Anthem at 8 p.m.
