Jays Need Extra Innings To Beat P-Rays

Posted:
PRINCETON, W.Va. (WVVA) -- It was a special night at Hunnicutt Field, Saturday where the Princeton Rays and Bluefield Blue Jays used their Mercer Cup rivalry to raise money for an outstanding local foundation.

It was "Shirt Off Our Backs Night" at the ballpark. The P-Rays wore special light-blue jerseys in honor of the Jonathan Powell Hope Foundation. Those jerseys were auctioned off during the game and given to fans directly at the end. They just had to wait a little longer than usual.

The Jays defeated the Rays 4-3 in extra innings. Bluefield's Richard Urena hit a solo home run in the top of the 12th inning to give the Jays the victory.

Both teams continue the series tomorrow afternoon.
